Lyrics

(spoken)

These are the times that try our souls.
In the course of our nation's history,
Democrats and other smart people have rallied bravely
Whenever someone like Georgy Bush threatens to be President.
Today, an age-old crisis is still with us.
The National Rifle Association (better known as the N.R.A.)
Continues to take a burdonsome toll on the population
By buying elected officials such as Georgy Bush.
Citizens, hear me out! Death could happen to you!

Well, let me tell of the story of a man named Georgy
On a typical campaign day.
Puts PAC money in his pocket, takes our lives for granted
And he sides with the N.R.A.

Oh, will he ever learn-no, he never will learn
With our fate, he's unconcerned (what a pity).
He will side forever with that ol' gun lobby.
He's a man who never will learn.

Georgy covets every dime that the N.R.A. gives him
As he travels to Washington.
When he gets there, he'll tell them, "Give me one more nickel.
"And then write your own legislation."

Oh, will he ever learn-no, he never will learn
With our fate, he's unconcerned (evil Georgy).
He will side forever with those ol' death merchants.
He's a man who never will learn.

Now all day long, Georgy travels the nation
Crying, "I support guns, you see.
"I promise to defend that sacred Second Amendment --
"It's unlikely anyone will shoot me!"

Oh, will he ever learn-no, he never will learn
With our fate, he's unconcerned (spineless Georgy).
He abide forever by our right to bear Uzis.
He's a man who never will learn.

Georgy's gun-loving minions always greet him when he visits
And they give him a dollar or two.
And because of all the loopholes, they have given Georgy millions
It's insane-but sadly, it's true.

Oh, will he ever learn-no, he never will learn
With our fate, he's unconcerned (is that compassion?).
He will ride forever on that train of money.
He's a man who never will learn.

(instrumental bridge)

Now, American citizens, don't you think it's a scandal
That so many of us die each day?
Fight to end the slaughter, don't vote for Georgy!
He's a puppet of the N.R.A.!

Oh, will he ever learn-no, he never will learn
With our fate, he's unconcerned (isn't he pro-life?).
He will side forever with that ol' gun lobby.
He's a man who never will learn.

(repeat and fade)

He's a man who never will learn.
He's a man who never will learn.
(Bang, bang, Georgy?)

Our Story

After the success of the Publicity Seekers' Georgy Bush, we couldn't resist jumping on the political bandwagon too. Our Austin Trio members were further inspired after talking to Publicity Seekers Diva Leslie Wiegle and lyricist Don Clinchy, who finally agreed to work with us. After heavy drinking, countless ideas, and an endless supply of clever lyrics from Clinchy, we reconvened to the studio with lead singer, Ryan Hill, and more political gumption spewing from young Kelly Holmes than ever before. With these personalities leading the way, we excitedly began our endeavor.

As good bands change and mature with time, so we've done, and not without growing pains. We struggled with leadership and haggled over details. There were conflicts to keep egos in check, mostly trying to satisfy newcomer, Bradley Von Ripptrapp. He pushed the limit, but (as you'll hear) his amazingly improvised lead guitar solos have completed our performances beyond even what we had hoped for. After long hours in the studio and endless demands from Von Ripptrapp, we were tired and hopeless. We left the studio, song unfinished, and no one really knew if we would meet again.

Don allowed some time to pass, and then called us together. With hesitation, we met again. The founder of Solitary Confinement Studios, and many say the true talent behind this obscene group, seized the reunion as an outlet. (He was, as he's been heard to say, "drunk as a lemur.") Despite attempts to calm him, he would not go unheard. He proceeded to advise every bandmember, each one as important as the next, exactly what our problems were. It was difficult, but we listened. And we learned. And when he finished, he slammed down his beer and waited, patiently, for rebuttal. There was none. He was right. After enduring the ramblings of the drunkard we had long before heard tell of, we knew what we had to do. We were restless, and we could no longer stay within the limits of Solitary Confinement Studios. It was time for a change. We took to the road.

Don Clinchy herded us through the city streets of Austin, where our tour began, and 5 months later ended. We wouldn't have made it through had we not made the difficult and costly decision to hire our new road manager and emcee, DJ Macky Mac Darkfinger. He booked the shows, haggled with club managers, and most importantly, engaged with audiences everywhere. The clip you can enjoy hearing now was recorded at our final show in Austin, Texas. Check this site regularly for news and announcements regarding future tour dates!

Quotes from the Trio and band that sum up the tour:

  • "I've got an idea." -- Don
  • "Let me tell you what your problem is." -- JM
  • "The kids have worked so hard on this.
I said the kids... Shut the F@$% UP while I'm talking to you people.
Ok now... Thank ya so much." -- Mac
