Land Rover is gearing up for an all-electric version of its flagship SUV. It’ll debut on the company’s new MLA platform, which will allow for hybrid, plug-in and fully electric powertrains.
What is the top price of Range Rover?
This will be the first time a Range Rover has been offered with an electric drivetrain, though mild and plug-in hybrid models have been available internationally for some time. Those vehicles have their own distinct advantages, but an electric SUV can also boast significantly better fuel economy than its gasoline-only counterparts.
The new electric land rover EV will feature a 13.3-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system that will offer haptic feedback for touching and pressing the screen to make use of its features easier. It’ll be the biggest touchscreen in a Range Rover, and will have an improved central display that will provide a more readable field of view for drivers.
It will also have a more sophisticated Start/Stop system that shuts down the engine when coasting or decelerating, and it will be able to re-use energy that’s normally lost during slowing. This is an innovative technique that will allow the upcoming EV to boost its fuel efficiency and improve MPG by more than a factor of two.
The upcoming EV will have a range of around 300 miles and an output of around 600 horsepower. Those numbers would be more than sufficient to keep the SUV’s acceleration on par with the top-end gas model. Those figures should also help the Range Rover EV stand out from other electrified Land Rover models that are already available.
